The Lukáš Šnábel Quartet brings together original composition and accomplished jazz playing. Pieces inspired by leading jazz artists, reaching into contemporary jazz, are a hallmark of Šnábel himself, who received the SOZA award for original composition.

This Slovak duo is regarded as one of the finest acts in contemporary jazz. They weave in soul, R'n'B and pop too – drawing on tradition while creating something genuinely timeless and current. Kristína Miháľová and Jakub Šedivý have found success well beyond Slovakia, performing at Carnegie Hall in New York as well as in Mexico City, Paris, Brussels and Stockholm. Kristin Lash has a truly remarkable voice; she was the only European to reach the Top 5 at the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Their shows are dynamic yet emotive, always conjuring an intimate atmosphere that draws the audience in from the very first notes.

A relatively young group, yet made up of seasoned jazz players. Tibor Feledi on the Hammond organ, Marián Slávka on drums and Peter Zajaček on guitar are a guarantee of an entertaining hour. Their debut album "Synergia" is a tasteful blend of jazz, funk, groove and blues. In their writing they're not afraid to push harder and show their jazz-rock side either. Their concerts are marked by sonic freedom and experimentation, while staying relaxed and full of fine improvisation.

The Manuša project was born from a deep love and admiration for Roma music and a desire to share its beauty, energy and poetry with a wider audience. It is one of the most significant contemporary projects in its genre in Europe. It became the first Slovak album in history to reach number one on the prestigious World Music Charts Europe, and Júlia Kozáková also won the Radio_Head Award 2025 for Recording of the Year 2025 in the World Music category. Her music is full of joy, fire and spontaneity. In Trnava she performs alongside highly respected musicians – the repertoire combines Roma tradition with her own distinctive voice.

A Greek double bassist who grew up in Athens, but after studying at a polytechnic decided to study jazz bass first in Amsterdam and then in New York, where his career took off. He is known not only as a composer of original works but also as a sideman across jazz and world music. He has played with Snarky Puppy, Anoushka Shankar, Greg Osby, Marcus Gilmore and the Pakistani singer Arooj Aftab. His music is highly sensitive and introspective, full of intriguing melodies and calm atmospheres. The double bass isn't confined to an accompanying role here but takes centre stage as the lead melodic voice. He blends elements of traditional jazz with Balkan and Mediterranean music.
After twenty editions, the open-air Trnavský Jazzyk festival holds a firm place among the events of the cultural summer in Slovakia's oldest royal town, and thanks to its strong programming it has become one of the most important jazz festivals in the country.
Just as every language has its dialects, jazz too comes in countless forms. The festival offers visitors a broad spectrum of genres, from classic mainstream through fusion, funk, soul and world music to contemporary jazz. It is this genre diversity that brings an extraordinary musical energy to the town and reflects Trnava's long-standing commitment to a richer, more varied programme of events.
The festival is organised by the City of Trnava with the financial support of Nádvorie – Space for Contemporary Culture and the Trnava Self-Governing Region, and with public funding from the Slovak Arts Council. Thanks to this support, the festival is largely free of charge. We believe Trnava is, and will remain, a town that sets an example for Slovakia in its approach to culture and in bringing people together.
